06:01:04:00 New Employee Orientation

Purpose:

It is the policy of Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) to conduct a new employee orientation for all full-time and eligible part-time employees.

Scope:

This policy applies to all regular (non-temporary) full-time and part-time (working at least 30 hours/week) employees. It does not apply to student workers, adjunct faculty, and temporary workers.

Compliance:

New full and part-time employees must participate in an employee orientation meeting conducted by the Human Resources Office to complete employment paperwork and to receive information. Some of the tasks and topics covered during the orientation include:

  1. Complete I-9 paperwork and backup.
  2. Complete W-4 withholding form.
  3. Complete a bank direct deposit form.
  4. Secure materials regarding:
    a. Insurance: health, dental, vision, life, accident, long term disability, long term care
    b. Flex benefit accounts
    c. Retirement plans – TCRS and ORP.
    d. Deferred compensation plans (401k, 457, 403b)
    e. Designation of beneficiary forms
  5. Receive information regarding:
    • Employee leave (annual and sick)
    • Education assistance (PC191, spouse/dependent education fee waivers)
    • Payroll
    • Open enrollment
    • Title VI training
    • Prevention of sexual harassment training
    • Campus security and procedures in case of emergencies
    • Drug-free and tobacco-free workplace
    • MyDSCC
    • Employee Assistance Program
    • Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
    • Fraud, Waste and Abuse

Compliance:

All newly hired full-time and part-time (working at least 30 hours/week) employees are expected to comply with this policy.

EAP: Employee Assistance Program
